PETE NELSON
Vice President of Affordable Housing
Pete Nelson is the Vice President of Affordable Housing at Tareen Development Partners (TDP), where he is responsible for affordable housing development, including sourcing, structuring, and executing new development and preservation opportunities. Pete works across all phases of the development lifecycle, from acquisition and financing to entitlements, construction oversight, and lease-up, with a focus on delivering high-impact, community-centered housing solutions.
With a decade of experience in affordable housing, Pete has overseen the development of approximately 1,500 affordable housing units, representing more than $200 million in total development costs. His expertise spans both new construction and preservation projects, with a strong emphasis on Section 8 housing, public-private partnerships, and financing strategies involving tax-exempt bonds and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).
Prior to joining TDP, Pete established himself as a leader in the affordable housing space through his work on complex preservation deals across the Midwest previously working for Dominium. He brings a thoughtful, mission-driven approach to each project, balancing financial performance with the long-term stability of the communities he serves. Pete has a proven track record of navigating regulatory frameworks, working with housing authorities and local governments, and assembling capital stacks that make deeply affordable housing feasible and sustainable.
Pete’s strategic vision, technical expertise, and passion for equitable development enhance TDP’s growing national platform and reinforce its commitment to creating and preserving high-quality housing for all income levels.
